Explorer Lieutenant Logan Beasley is presented with "Explorer of the Year" by Sheriff McDuffie for improvement in leadership and putting other Explorers before self.

If you are a young person between the ages of 15-20 and interested the career field of law enforcement, the E.C.S.O. Exploring Post meets every other Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.. Applicants may not have:
  • any criminal record, unruly, or be on probation,
  • Must maintain a “C+” average or above, while enrolled in a home, public, or private school.
  • Have a desire to learn and become team oriented.
There are some costs for a uniform.  You may check the training calendar at http://www.effinghamsheriff.org/divisions/exploring.aspx for meeting dates.

REQUIREMENTS IN ADDITION TO STATED ABOVE:  Membership fees/costs are the responsibility of the Explorer.

Within six months of membership, the Explorer will be required to purchase two uniforms. These are:

  1. Training Uniform: Green Polo shirt w/ name ($30) khaki slacks, black belt, black shoes of any kind.
  2. Duty Uniform (Class B) ($90) This includes Khaki uniform shirt, hunter green uniform slacks, a name plate and two patches sewn on the shirt. The Sheriff issues a badge, collar tabs, and patches.
Explorers may have sponsors who are willing to assist in the purchase of uniforms.

Uniform of the Day: Class B

Explorers, as anyone can, may find themselves in situations where someone needs medical help in an emergency. Having the basic knowledge of assisting someone could make the difference of life and death.

Explorers will learn basic life saving procedures of providing first aid to the physically injured. We will cover topics such as treating for:

  1. physical shock
  2. stopping bleeding
  3. a broken bone or compound fracture
  4. an injured back or neck
  5. injured eye
  6. burns
  7. gun or stabbing wound
  8. sucking chest wound
  9. impaled object
  10. epileptic seizure 
  11. exposure due to weather
  12. heat exhaustion
  13. heat stroke
  14. ingestion of poisonous items
  15. choking

Explorers should bring all of your equipment and notebooks. Parents are encouraged to attend this and any training.
